The Ritual 01:38
We the men came together After the hunt That had lasted all day Yearning spiritually To stay loving Each other as one And there would be no more wars
9.
Woman Song 02:37
This is a poem about a woman The woman My mother Who expelled me from her womb Ripe with the pain A mother much the woman Three times over a woman This woman Who became my mother This woman My mother Was much a woman Who suddenly found her-self A woman trapped in the world Confined by domesticity Of having to do the woman’s work Because men had stolen her work Fucked up the world Only too give her back the work They The men thought were less then my mother My mother A woman Could do some things Better than we Who were the men We who were their fathers We who were thy brothers We who were our sisters We who wear the articles Worn by the woman So this be their lot For the woman’s work be hard work Woman’s work be back breaking work Woman’s work be spirit beating work Because woman’s work be baby on her back Beating sun down on we Picking, washing, scrubbing all day Then she do the same for the men Because it starts back up tomorrow
10.
I am looking out of someone’s eyes Standing so close So still That my shadow falls Into another song Other places Other stars Eclipsing moons I am standing all alone Wondering Which is better To be here Or To have stayed on the Nile
11.
Run 03:23
Run To your Father Run To Your Mother Run To your sister Run To your brother Hold them tight As the storm passes over And Just as you are about to take your leave Tell them I Never meant you no harm
12.
You might not believe me this time When I say I won’t be coming back this way again See I’ve found myself in this place That I swore that I’d never go back to again So I’m putting an end To this life and this love It seems we have flown The last of our paper doves We’ve had the wine And We’ve broken the bread One too many times And now We’re running on phony alibis So No I won’t be coming back this way again

Wish 02:38

20.
21.
Affirmations 02:27
22.
4 o’clock And the ladies are picking up their children from school Thinking all the while How life can be so cruel For an unmarried lady who forgets The golden rule This child so young So innocent Looks up into a face That has long since been erased Unaware of the fires Those have needlessly been lit Pushing the button marked replay The stinking sweetness of a song called ‘The thrill of picking fatherhood’ Cadaver burned out to reveal The charred remains of a history Whole in its fatherlessness Suddenly You feel something coming over you Give praise Tis’ the miracle of a child’s love Transcending the sins Of they The women’s ole men Look mama Your baby girls a virgin again Full to the brim With hopes and promises Oh great Jehovah It is 4 o’clock And the ladies are picking up their children From school And somewhere Your baby girls a virgin again
23.
When darkness lay low Only then do your eyes unmask the truth Bathing in the cool morning light Your child is gone Again The trap has won And once more you’ll have to move Once more You’ll have to rebuild the home Prayerfully hoping as you go Just as once before You might find the strength To start to rebuild the nest Rebuild the family

about

Precious Rituals is the companion piece to the book "Rituals"
Most of the compositions on this CD find the artist working in the realm of Haiki poetry. After the book was finished the artist realized there were still things he wanted to say and what better way of showcasing that then with beautifully multi-layered vocals.

This recording is as close as you can get to listening to Mr. Jackson in concert. Armed with only his voice, the artist gracefully glides with the melody. Showcasing a vocal range people have called staggering.
